Exotic and energizing - Guarana

Friday, 7. september 2007.

Guarana is a plant whose fruits are small coffee-like berries, only that the concentration of caffeine contained in them is three times higher than that of coffee beans.

Guarana is native to the Amazon basin. Its name is derived from the Brazilian tribe Guarani.
According to the legend, a bush grew from the eyes of a child who was killed, but was later brought back to life and became the founding father of the Maue tribe. People of the Guarani tribe are thought to be descendants of the Maue tribe. The Guarani used to prepare a refreshing tea from the fruits of the bush and have used the plant for healing purposes and as an aphrodisiac.

Even to this day, many myths of guarana can be found, stating that it is miraculous, dangerous and so on. In any case, the truth is that, due to high caffeine concentrations, it is a very strong stimulant therefore it should not be consumed in larger quantities. There is a drink prepared from guarana that has a pleasant taste and it is the most widely consumed drink in Brazil. Guarana is also added to chocolates, syrups, chewing gums and energy capsules.

Subrina added guarana to its Guarana Energy men shower gel. Because it refreshes and invigorates!
